When Times Get Rough

Okay so we have good times and bad times. Some times the bad seems very bad which it could be worse as we try and think of worse things that could happen. Sometimes we may read in to something that may or may not be there. So when he have rough times, we go to our support team, like family and friends. Well, tonight, I have called up a very dear from of mine, got a few things off my chest that was bothering me and her response was very clever if you ask me. She said, let it pass like gas. Well, ok....... with that said. Toot Toot!! And you know, shes right. Not only did it remind of me, of not to let things get to me, but she made me laugh which made me feel better. She is amazing!!

At Home Skin Care Remedies

I have found some amazing and I mean amazing tips on Doing It Yourself Natural Beauty regimens. They are budget friendly, and you can get the supplies at your grocery store. I am in love with this e-book. Here are a few I tried, and they feel great! The best part of having these at home, budget friendly remedies, is that you can throw a pamper party with all of your girlfriends to try these. LOVE!! ***Please make sure to do a patch test for any allergic reactions that may occur before going crazy over these tips.***

Okay ladies, tomatoes is not just for meals. It can be used for your beautiful skin. Yes, you read that right, your skin. All you have to do is peel and finely chop up a tomato and spread that bad boy on your face. The benefits of using a tomato, is it is good for a gentle cleanser as well as it helps to tighten pores.

Here is another great tip. Soak gauze in green tea and apply to your face as you would toner. Lets give those beautiful faces a nice pampering session.

My favorite. If you love that one, you are going to love this one. Pull out your honey and a teaspoon of water. Add one tablespoon of honey to your water and heat in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Let it cool and apply to your lips for about 15 minutes. Then rinse. Scoot over Burt's Bees. Talk about smooth lips.

Lets dry out the un-welcomed flaws that comes and goes. Drop a teaspoon of honey in a dish and use a cotton swab and dab over the pimple to dry it out. Do this a few times a week, until gone.

Lets iron out those wrinkles. Take half of a papaya and a ½ tablespoon of honey. Apply in the areas you want to iron out and let it set for about a good 12 minutes. Then rinse, rinse, and rinse.

Getting the job you want

So are you struggling to land a job or even getting the job you want? This is what I found that works. First off, make a list of the companies you want to work. Next, call them up and ask the manager on duty to meet with you for an informational interview. Next, drive to the company a couple of days before to not only look for the company but to go inside and see how the employees are dressed. Look at the clothing, shoes, see if there hair is pulled back, are they wearing open or closed shoes, do they have a uniform they are wearing, if so, then look at the colors. Do they have tattoos or any piercing visible, things like that. Next, go home and pick out your clothing. If you need to go to the store and buy something to look like you are an employee who works for so and so company, then do it!

Here is an example of my experience. One summer I had taken an R.O.P class in Hotel and Hospitality Services, which I loved. The class was instructed to choose two companies to learn about. I chose, Marriott, and Holiday Inn. Next, we had to schedule an informational interview with the manager of the department we were interested in. So I choose front desk clerk at the Holiday Inn and Catering Department at the Marriott. I had to write ten questions I wanted to ask. Then I went to the location and I went inside and looked around to get a feel of the energy, and what the employees were wearing. I have noticed at the Marriott they had black suits on closed shoes, and their hair was pulled back. At the Holiday Inn, they had a green polo shirt that had Holiday Inn engraved on the left corner of the shirt and wore khaki pants, I think it was at the time. Some employees had their hair pulled back and some didn't. So when I got home, I got my outfits together, the Marriott I wore my hair pulled back and I wore a black pant suit. For the Holiday Inn, I wore a green polo shirt with khaki pant. I looked like one of them. Not only does that show you are interested in getting information about the company and their job but also says, hey I'm one of you. Its a great way to better your chances of getting a job/getting a job you want. Lastly, one day after the informational interview, send a Thank You Note.

Candy Madness

So the Holidays come and go by so fast its time to move on to the next Holiday, which there are left over candies haven't been eaten and don't want to go to waste. One thing I suggest doing is when you have a lot of candies left over, make goody bags and take them to friends and family. Another good idea that I do is, I buy small bags at the dollar store. For Easter I purchased three bags of candy, which is a little much for us, however, I used a candy dish that is perfect for only two bags, that I purchased. So now, being that its small candy dish, the candy will not go to waste or added to the hips.

Tea Tree Oil

When I go to get my haircut, I always have my hairstylist wash my hair first. Every time she washes my hair, I notice she uses a shampoo and conditioner that has Tea Tree Oil in it. I asked her how much does both the shampoo and conditioner cost. She said $50. Okay way to steep for me at this time. So what I have done was, get my conditioner in my hand and I dropped in one drop of Tea Tree Oil in my conditioner and I massage it in and let it set for about 3 minutes. I use my Tea Tree Oil twice a week. Not only does it smell good and is relaxing, but it helps to moisturize my scalp. Here is a link to check out about Tea Tree Oil if your not familiar with it.

Other uses for Hair Conditioner

For all the ladies out there. One day I ran out of shaving cream and it was kind of late to even go out to the store to buy some. So I was thinking on what I could use in replacement of the shaving cream. I have tried shampoo which works but not as good as conditioner. Yes, conditioner. I found that it not only makes the legs easy to see when shaving but it also acts as a moisturizer for the legs. Where I live now, the water isn't so great, it caused my skin to get very dry and was pealing after awhile. But now, my legs feel like a baby's butt. Amazing! Here is the conditioner I use.

Chicken, Beef, Vegetable Broth and Bouillon

Oh yes, I am famous for cooking with broth. I use broth and bouillon in many different ways. I first off came up with this great idea by using chicken broth or bouillon for cleaning up a jar of white sauce for noodles. I just don't like it when I make fettuccine and I pour the sauce in the pot and there is sauce stuck to the sides of the jar. I use to use water but where I live today, the tap water isn't so great. So so this is how I do it. I boil up 1 cup of water and drop in a bouillon cube until it boils and then I pour it in the sauce jar and shake it up. Then I pour it in the pot. It is so much yummier. If I use broth from a can, I will pour in about a cup inside the jar, no heating is required. Then I shake shake shake, and pour right in. I use the beef broth of the red sauces. I use the vegetable broth for boiling vegetables. Tastes so good. Sometimes I will drink a cup of the bouillon as a replacement of hot tea or hot coco. It soothes the tummy.

Using your space to the fullest

For small spaces, I recommending going up on the wall. So lets take your office for instants, you can have shelf's above your desk or even a cabinet to use up your space to the fullest. It creates lots of storage for your things as well as if well coordinated then it will look like part of the home d├ęcor.

Also, think about closet door space or even bathroom cabinet door spaces. There are so many things you can do with doors. Again, there are hooks, cork boards you can hang inside your cabinet doors, even your medicine cabinet door, kitchen doors, and so forth. You can paint chalkboard paint inside a cabinet door say in your kitchen, where you can have what you are going to eat tonight for dinner, or even notes to family. You can hang photos of your loved ones, a calendar. You can hang spices on the door, kids artwork, etc.. They have these magnetic board you can hang and use as well.

Time saving technique

Its hard enough to find clothes you want to wear for the day and even changing into a new outfit by night if your going out. So this is what I came up with. There are these door hangers you can hang on your door, or even hooks in that matter, and the night before, choose your outfit(s) for that day. Once you have chosen what you want to wear, hang that outfit(s) behind your bedroom or bathroom door. I like to take it a step further and hang all of my under garments on my hanger and my jewelry so everything is together. Then once I wear the clothes, I put the hanger in my closet, but in front so when I go and hang my clothes up again, it doesn't take me a lot of time to find my hanger. Simple techniques does help save time.

Recognition from Work

Here is a really nice idea to have evidence of you work performance with future employers you apply for and even getting hired on with a new company. While you are still with your employer now, collect any pieces of evidence you can get on paper of your performance with that company. So say, your company has a recognition board for others to put up a note on the board of your performance. Collect them before they get tossed out tape them on a piece of paper and file them away. What I have also done, was called up former employees I have worked with and asked them to send an email of what they thought of me as an employee. Some replied and some didn't. That's okay! You are starting the process of evidence of your hard work you have given while being employed. In addition to having the evidence, it also helps to know, where your strengths and weaknesses are so if you want to improve on some areas, you have the feedback of where improving is needed.

Toothbrush Holders in the Office

There are some toothbrush holders out there that are very pretty to not only use in the bathroom but you can use them in your office. Some of them are decorated in mosaics, which I found a nice one at Ross for cheap. I only spent $2.99 which was on clearance. It makes a great pen and pencil holder for the desk.

Leftover Madness

I remember when my mom use to make meatloaf for dinner and when she made it, she would make enough to feed an entire army! I mean she would cook a lot for only a party of four. So we would have lots of leftovers, which I remember saying to myself, we are having this again. I was getting tired of eating one thing for a few days and then sometimes the leftovers would go bad. So learning from experience, I have came up with a nice way to use up the leftovers so they dont go bad or even get boring to the eye. Cause we all know, what looks good, usually tastes good. Right? With that being said, here is a great way to use up every bit of leftovers. First thing to do is mix all of your ingredients you use for a meatloaf together in a bowl, and then depending on how many people you are cooking for, divide up the meatloaf into portion size sections for each person who will be eating that meal. Next with the left over meat you have, take that and plan another meal with it. So maybe, the next day for dinner you decide you want to cook spaghetti with meat balls. With your leftover meat you have from your meatloaf, you can make your meat balls. So now you have took care of dinner for that night as well as half of the next day meal. Another great idea, specially for children, you can use the rest of your meatloaf and shape your meat in a cookie cutter or even a shaped pan. Just remember to grease your pan/cutter so the meat wont stick. Then of course the last step is to cook your meats. So now you not only have a meatloaf, but you have meatballs that are going to taste like meatloaf as well as making a meatloaf patty for your child for lunch.

Hangers, Hangers, Hangers

It's that time to start the packing and moving out of your old place and into a new place. A new fresh chapter in our lives to make more memories, memorable. How about the packing and moving which is not to much fun specially if you have hangers every where and you just throw the in a box. Do you ever do that? I do!! I don't use wardrobe boxes, I take all of my clothes off my hangers, fold the clothes and put them in a box. Then I have another box just for my hangers..... and let me tell you, if you do this then you know what I mean, when I say, its a nightmare. My hangers get stuck in between each other and its so frustrating to pull one hanger and a bunch of them come out attached to it. Then I have hangers on the floor. No fun!! So this is my new thing I am doing. I am gathering about 10-15 hangers and taping them together just like they are when I first buy them from the store. It works GREAT!!! No mess no stress!!

Dinnerware Ideas

Here is a great idea to have portion control when eating out or even eating at home. Instead of using a large plate, downsize to a small plate, like a salad plate. Divide your plate up and place your food inside the plate keeping it away from the outer edge. This method works really good because not only is it portion control but you can actually how much is going in. Here, I have homemade red potato salad, with chicken, and a fruit salad I put together at the last minute. I use my large plates as platters like when I bake oatmeal cookies. As for my bowls, I will use them for salads.  That way, I feel like I have some use of all of my dinnerware.

Job Seekers Assistance

Years ago, I was a homemaker for many years which in my eyes, too long, until we both decided to create a life of our own. I remember thinking back to myself, now what am I going to do with my life now. I have no one to support me, I don't have many skills since I haven't been to work in years and to top it off, I did let myself go some. No one is going to hire me looking like this and not having many, if any, skills to get my foot in the door somewhere. I had no money, which its not like I can wake up and say okay, I'm going to enroll in school to learn skills so I can get a job. I was still waiting on my alimony so I could get by until I can get a job. To make matters worse, the economy isn't doing so great, so now I had another thing working against me. So I got online and started to fill out applications anyway, and hope that I would receive a call from a company who would like to interview me. After applying to about 20 companies every two weeks, with no call backs, really worried me. So this is what I have done. I first off, polished myself up to not only look good, but to feel good about myself. I put on some makeup brushed my hair, painted my toe nails, and I even dressed up some, even if I wasn't going out that day. So now, I feel good. It took some time getting ready but at least I made a positive accomplishment for that day. I then, looked over my resume and cover letter to see if there are any updates/changes I needed to make. I next, sat down with my computer, and I typed in every store I was going to apply to. Then, I typed in every company I would go on a regular basis to. So for an example: Wells Fargo Bank, Starbucks Coffee, Safeway and Luckys, Rite Aid, and so forth. I then, would go on each website to see how they want their applicants to apply, whether its in store, or online. If it was in-store, I would print out a cover letter and resume and go to the store and ask for a job application. I would turn in the application by speaking with the Hiring Manager and then I would go home and write the day I applied and the Hiring Managers name. If it was online, I would apply online, and again, keep a log of when I applied. I would wait for two business days, and I would give the store a call asking who the hiring manager is and if he/she is available. Once the Hiring Manager answered the line, I would ask them if they have received my application from online. Next, I would wait for one week later and I give the store a call and ask the status of my application, whether you have applied in store or online. Meanwhile, I was holding a mock interview with a friend over the phone and rehearsing in front of the mirror so I can watch myself to see if there would be something to change to make it better. Soon enough, I have been getting call backs. I was so excited to know that companies want to meet me. So I went for this job interview one day and the Hiring Manager said to me, I see you in here all the time. You buy the Vanilla flavored Starbucks coffee drinks. I thought to myself, very impressive! She knew the flavor of my drink. She really pays attention on who comes in her store and what they buy. She then told me about the job and asked me when I can start. So now I have learned, to apply to places I am a regular customer to better my chances of getting a job and to be persistent.
